AMALBANK has begun transacting business in its Takoradi and Tamale branches with the recently introduced e-zwich smart card that is meant to reduce the incidents of customers carrying huge cash on them to the bank to transact business.

To that end, the bank has undertaken a programme to sensitise employees and traders in Takoradi and Tamale to the use of the e-zwich to enjoy its numerous benefits. A statement issued by the bank said “ as the first financial institution to offer the e-zwich services in Takoradi & Tamale, and among the premier banks to dos so in Kumasi, Amalbank has made available a number of Point of Sale (POS) devices to retail merchants”. According to the bank, the introduction of the POS would enable anyone with the card to transfer money, effect payments as well as do multiple cash transactions including online and off-line funds loading, third par bill settlement, card enquiries and cash advance collections.

“As such, it is possible to do e-zwich transactions even in remote areas with limited connectivity,” the statement added. It said with introduction of the e-zwich one did not need to have a traditional bank account to have transactions settled. “One can simply walk into any outlet displaying the E-zwich Notification, rural bank, financial institution or bank such as Amalbank Business Office to benefit from the service,” the statement said.

Amalbank recently inaugurated its Osu Business Office in Accra to cater for the banking needs of its growing customers bringing to twelve, the number of branches the bank has established since its inception in 1999.
